How did America's role in the world change because of the Cold War?
During the aftermath of Word War II, the United States was encountering new challenges in the world. An overwhelming majority of the United States' problems were rooted in the Soviet Union. The conflict between these two world powers resulted as the Cold War. Policies in the United States were determined to end the growth and popularity of the Communist party. Throughout the course of the Cold War, the United States and its allies would fight against the Soviet Union and other Communist nations.
To make matters worse, the United States was experiencing extreme social, political, and economic changes at home. Evntually, spy cases and Senator Joseph McCarthy would spark fear of Communists inside the United States. Between the 1950s and the1960s, the United States and the Soviet Union would compete in an arms race. Space would soon become a battlefield for the Unitd Sates and the Soviet Union. The Cold War would eventually carry into Latin America through the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
